5Js RV Certified RV Inspection Services
Why NRVIA Certified Inspectors?
Purchasing an RV is an expensive proposition. You need to be sure that the RV that you intend to live in part-time or full-time is worth your hard-earned money. How do you do that? Simple. Hire an NRVIA certified RV inspector such as the ones at 5Js RV.
All of the inspectors at 5Js RV are NRVIA Certified. To become certified, they attended a multi-week training at the NRVTIA, conducted inspections that were reviewed by instructors, passed a test, and agreed to abide by the NRVIA‘s inspection requirements.
As part of the requirements to be NRVIA certified inspectors, the 5Js RV inspectors adhere to a rigorous Code of Ethics. They also abide by detailed Standards of Practice that help ensure the integrity and value of certified RV inspections. Additionally, each inspector is required to take continuing education approved by the NRVIA.
What Does a Certified RV Inspection Entail?
Many people believe an RV inspection is just like a house inspection. If you’ve ever bought a house, you may have seen that a home inspector went into the house and “inspected” it. What you may not have seen is that the inspector only spent 15-60 minutes “inspecting” an entire home! How much could an inspector actually see / test / inspect in that amount of time in a 1,000 to 5,000 (or more) sq. ft. home? Unfortunately, RV inspectors who are not certified by the NRVIA often only take an hour or so to “inspect” an RV. Most RV dealerships that claim that they “inspect” their used RVs before offering them for sale only spend 60 minutes or less “inspecting” them. In contrast, depending on the size of your RV, whether it is towable, a slide-in, a motor coach, etc., an NRVIA certified inspector will often spend 6-8 hours physically present at the RV inspecting it. Many times, that same inspector will spend 30-60 minutes in research before arriving at the RV for the inspection. That same inspector then spend another hour or two finalizing the RV inspection report before emailing it you. All in, a NRVIA certified inspector could take 10 hours or more to complete your inspection. (For a full list of the points of inspection, ask your inspector to email you a copy of that list. To see the NRVIA Standards of Practice (which dictate the POIs, visit the NRVIA website.)Types of Certified RV Inspections Offered
5Js RV certified RV inspectors offer the Premier level of inspections for travel trailers, motor coaches, 5th wheels, slide-ins, and other RVs. The premier level inspection touches every system in the RV. For a complete list of the systems the premier level certified RV inspection covers, look at the NRVIA’s Standards of Practice. Of course, if you have a slide-in truck bed RV, you won’t have an inspection that covers, for example, the wheel assemblies or brakes. Likewise, if you have a travel trailer, you won’t have an inspection of RV components that are specific to other types of RVs such as toy haulers or motorhomes.
Due to the difference in the systems examined, there is a price difference depending on the type of RV that is being inspected. Prices range from $499 for a small slide-in to $1,499 for a Class A or toy hauler. Fluid analysis will add anywhere from $129 to $499 (or more) depending on the number of samples taken and analyzed.
While these prices may sound steep, think about the peace of mind you will get by ensuring your rig has no issues upon purchase (unlikely, even if new) or that the seller (be it a dealer or third-party) will be incentivized to fix the issues prior to you picking up the rig (to ensure the sale occurs). Often, it can take weeks or months to get an appointment for repair work at a dealer and even once the dealer has your rig, it can takes weeks or months for the repairs to be done. The inspection helps ensure that you know of any problems that exist upon purchase and you can use the inspection report to help get those problems fixed before you purchase or possibly get the price of the rig reduced.
