Emergency Services

Services after business hours and within short notice for last minute repairs to help get you back on the road quickly and efficiently.

 

Examples of such services are retracting slides or levelers so you can get back on the road or unscheduled last-minute urgent repairs.

Are you interested in having internet virtually everywhere you go? Don't want to be dependent on the poor quality wi-fi at most campgrounds? If so, the certified technicians at 5Js RV can help.

 

Our techs have installed roof-mounted Starlink systems, removeable Starlink systems mounted to RV ladders, Pepwave cellular modems, wireless access points (AP), and similar devices to help clients stay connected wherever they are.

RV Antifreeze for Winterization

Winterizing

$175 Flat Rate (includes supplies)

 

If you are not using your RV during the winter, your RV is stored outside, and temperatures get below freezing, winterizing is critical to keeping your RV safe.

 

  • Drain fresh water tank and water heater
  • Bypass water heater
  • Fill water lines with food-grade anti-freeze
  • Fill p-traps in sinks, showers with anti-freeze
  • Drain toilet
  • Run anti-freeze through toilet lines

Summerization (aka "De-Winterization")

$175 Flat Rate

 

If you are planning on using your RV after the winter, there are steps you should take before use.  

  • Flush water lines of anti-freeze
  • De-bypass water heater
  • Flush water heater
  • Test water heater
  • Check for any visible leaks, water damage, or damaged pipes

Although not included in this package, you should also consider water line sanitization (see below).

Roof Preventative Maintenance

$500 Flat Rate (includes supplies)

 

This service should be performed at least annually per manufacturer guidelines.

 

The tech will clean the RV's roof with special products and then apply a UV-blocking agent to protect the roof and extend its useful life.

 

While on the roof, the tech will examine the condition of the sealant around the roof edges and around each opening. If the sealant is cracked or failing, the technician will discuss options to repair (repair of roof sealant is an extra charge if client wants to pursue the repair).

Air Conditioning Maintenance

Starting at $150 Flat Rate (one AC)

 

Annual maintenance on your AC units is key to keeping them running for years.

 

The certified RV technician will:

 

  • Clean AC coils
  • Check compressor votage and amperage
  • Check compressor for shorts
  • Clean AC fan
  • Check and unclog AC roof drains
  • Test for AC efficiency with a temperature drop test
  • Examine the roof shroud for cracks or other damage

Prepare for the upcoming warm season with a review and cleaning of your AC units.

 
  • Inspect AC compressor, coils, and capacitors
  • Clean AC coils
  • Clean or replace air filters, as needed

Prepare for the upcoming cold season with a review and cleaning of your furnace and by removing debris that could get stuck under your slide seals.

 
  • Remove debris from slide roofs
  • Inspect furnace
  • Inspect and clean furnace air inlet

Water Line Sanitation

$250 Flat Fee (includes supplies)

 

The water pipes and fresh water tank in your RV must remain clean to keep you and your family safe. Regular sanitation of the lines is important to protect from bacteria, viruses, and other organisms that can live in your water lines and tanks.

 

How often you should sanitize the lines depends on how often you use your RV. If you only use your RV during the spring and summer months, it is recommended to sanitize the lines right before you start the season and anytime your RV has sat for a few weeks unused. If you full-time in your RV, you should sanitize at least twice per year.

 

  • Turn off and bypass water heater
  • Fully fill fresh water tank with bleach/fresh water solution
  • Run water through all pipes (except water heater)
  • Drain water heater
  • Fill with vinegar mixture to eat calcium buildup
  • Let system sit for 8 to 12 hours
  • Drain and flush water heater
  • Replace anode rod, if equipped by the manufacturer
  • Flush fresh water lines
  • Un-bypass the water heater
  • Test system

  • Check anode rode condition (if equipped by manufacturer)
  • Check relief valve
  • Clean and check burner assembly
  • Adjust burner and electrodes, as necessary
  • Check thermocouple
  • Visually inspect circuit board for signs of damage
  • Verify operation

  • Perform hot-skin test
  • Test all lights
  • Test all USB ports for proper voltage, if equipped
  • Verify function of monitor panel
  • Inspect shore cord
  • Inspect fuse / circuit breaker box condition
  • Check converter operation
  • Verify battery output and perform short load test
  • Check 120VAC system for polarity and function
  • Check generator function and output, if equipped

Inverter / solar, if equipped, is an additional fee. Discuss with technician when you call to set up the appointment.

If you are new to RVing, it may be tough to understand everything you need to do on the road. Even if your RV dealer or prior owner give you a full walk-through, it may be like drinking from a garden hose.

 

The techs at 5Js RV can give you a general overview of your RV or specific instruction on areas of its use that you are unclear. Our goal is to make you seasoned pros as quickly as possible.
